Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at an evening event at Juno Books?

Our evening events tend to start between 6:30-7pm and finish between 8-8:30pm. The shop will have low level lighting and a selection of chairs of different sizes with & without backs are available. Please let us know at hello@junobooks.co.uk if you need a wheelchair space and we can reserve this for you. Unfortunately the toilet is not accessible.

On arrival you will be offered a free drink from a selection of options. You can choose a seat. Please note, unless you have specified an access need it can be quite cosy/intimate because it is a small space with a maximum capacity of 25.

Typically the host and author/s will be introduced by a member of the Juno Books team. The author will usually do a reading from their book and have a conversation with the host before opening up for audience questions. There will normally be opportunities for book signing and buying more books.

How do I get involved in a book group or club?

Book groups and clubs are a great way to help you to get into reading regularly and discuss books with other like-minded people. We run five monthly book groups and clubs covering everything from fiction to food writing to horror:

  • Juno Reads book group focuses on general fiction and meets on a weekday evening at Hagglers Corner

  • Horror book group meets on a weekday evening at Juno Books

  • SheffFood book group meets on a weekday evening at Juno Books

  • Sex Ed book club group meets on a Sunday daytime at Juno Books

  • Queer book group meets on a Sunday daytime at Juno Books

To find out more about our book groups and clubs what each group is reading and when they are meeting up please visit the Book Groups page. Typically to attend a book group or club you will need to buy a ticket (which includes admission and a copy of the book) in advance. If you already have a copy of the book reduced price tickets may be available.

How can I organise an event or book group at/with Juno Books?

If you have an idea for a new book group or are an author with a new book coming out we are very happy to receive enquiries about hosting book clubs and events. You can come and talk to us in the shop or email us at hello@junobooks.co.uk. Please note that our capacity to host events and book clubs is limited.

How can local businesses and organisations support our work?

We have facilitated lunchtime workplace book groups which included a bulk discounted purchase of books and help to lead group discussions. We are very interested in facilitating workplace book groups and connecting with and stocking local and school libraries. Please get in touch with us.

How can I support Juno books without coming into the shop?

As an independent bookshop your support really helps us to keep going. We've got our own shop front on Bookshop.org UK where you can order books online for home delivery from Bookshop.org. Simply click on the link and or search for the book that you want in the search bar below. Just make sure that Juno Books is selected as your chosen shop on checkout.
