If you enjoy reading why not join one of our book groups or clubs. Book groups and clubs are a great way to help you to get into reading regularly and discuss books with other like-minded people. We run five monthly book groups and clubs covering everything from fiction to food writing to horror.

Juno Reads

At Juno Reads we love to read a wider range of fiction-based genres. We meet IRL (in real life) on a weekday evening at Hagglers Corner. We also provide an online discussion for those who prefer to meet online.
Past books we have read include: Alison - Lizzie Stewart, Emergency - Daisy Hildyard, The Shadow King - Maaza Mengiste, and The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. Le Guin

Juno Reads Horror

Juno Reads Horror is a book club for those who love to be spooked. We read a range of different horror books, from ghost stories to gory slashers and everything in-between. We know that horror is wildly different so feel free to dip in and out of the book club if there are types of horror you don't like because we cover it all! We'll also share each month's book, its vibe, and trigger warnings here (and you can look them up on storygraph!) so you can decide exactly what you're comfortable reading. Can't wait to see (and scare) you at the next book club!

We meet up on a weekday evening at Juno Books.
Past books we have read include: Patricia Wants to Cuddle - Samantha Allen, Family Business - Jonathan Sims, and Black Sheep - Rachel Harrison

SheffFood Book Club

The ShefFood Book Club explores the intersections between food, place, people, politics and planet, and asks what they tell us about how to fix our broken food system. ShefFood is a cross-sector partnership of organisations across the city formed of local public agencies, businesses, individuals, academic and community organisations committed to working together to create a more sustainable food system for Sheffield.
We meet up on a weekday evening at Juno Books.
Past books we have read include: In the Kitchen: Essays on food and life (various authors).

Sex Ed Book Club

Sex Ed Book Club is an inclusive community for adults dedicated to catching up the sex ed we missed at school through monthly themed book clubs. We get together every month and chat about all the topics we’ve been told are too embarrassing, shameful or taboo. Each month we focus on a different sex education theme such as: gender, sexuality, body image, relationships, desire, menstruation, contraception and sexual health. We read a mixture of both fiction and non-fiction to learn, discuss, connect and share over topics that can sometimes feel difficult to find a space to talk about. We are an inclusive space for curiosity and learning, and we accept that sometimes we all get things wrong. However, we do expect all members to be respectful, and any abuse or discrimination will not be tolerated.
We meet on a Sunday daytime at Juno Books.
Past books we have read include: Ejaculate Responsibly - Gabrielle Blair and Motherhood - Sheila Heti.

Queer Book Group

We meet on a Sunday daytime at Juno Books.
Past books we have read include: Big Swiss - Jen Beagin, Girl Meets Boy - Ali Smith, and A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet - Becky Chambers.

What do I need to do to join a book group or club?

To attend a book group or club you will need to buy a ticket (which includes admission and a copy of the book) in advance. If you already have a copy of the book reduced price tickets may be available.

Your ticket normally includes:

  • A copy of the book

  • Entrance to the book group

  • Great chat with likeminded people

You can either collect the book in person by popping down to the shop at Juno Books, 24 Chapel Walk, S1 2PD. Alternatively you can also pay extra to have the book posted to you. You can select this option at checkout.

You can find a list of available tickets for our upcoming book groups and clubs below.
